Sandblasting and EngravingSandblasting, also known as sand engraving and sand carving, is an artistic technique that has been employed from the very beginnings of the use of glass as an art medium. The technique has been used primarily to give decorative and artistic effect to lettering and the creative carvings to be seen in door "windows" and in glass doors. Sandblasting gives life, effect and tone to the drabness of clear glass and adapts well to any surroundings, be they domestic, commercial, architectural or religious. The application can be used for signage, to decorate room dividers, corporate logos, certificates and awards, and special gifts. Sandblasting into glass is a technique unique to the glass medium in that it creates a live, three dimensional effect. It is very suitable for room dividers, for example, glass panels set into timber or brass framing. In fact, sandblasting works well and gives dimension to all furnishings.
